How are you mapping your drives, through BAT script or VBS script. If it is Visual Basic then it could be your anti-virus. I had similar problems and switch to BAT scripts and it solved the problem.

You could also try this. Go into the GPO that is running you map drives script and go to and enable the following...

Computer Configuration/Administrative Template/System/Logon/Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon

Thanks for the reply. The mapped drives are not from VBS Script.The folders are shared & permissions enabled accordingly to users & mapped at there systems. Once they log-in it works for couple of hours & later it stops responding(may be the server itself it not accessible) until they log-off & log-in again. What could be the reason? this started from few days back.

"may be the server itself it not accessible) until they log-off & log-in again"

To test that theory try accessing the shares through UNC pathing in the Run box. If the folder opens then that is not the problem. Like I said, doing map drives through VBS is fraught with problems like this. Try doing it through BAT scripts instead. Use the Net Use command. Here is an example of my map drives script...

@echo off
net use h: "\\svr040\users\%username%"
net use i: "\\svr040\share"

Hope it helps.

P.S. Have you tried the GPO change I suggested yet. I don't thing it will fix it but it is worth a try.
