Server 2003 no longer sees the shared folders or printers

Specs: Server 2003 R2
My server 2003 no longer sees shared folders or printers on the network. Doesn't even see the other computers. I might add that the internet explorer 7 it's running doesn't work either. Is this a correlation? What could have possibly caused this problem? Anyone have a fix. Thanks

If nothing networky is working I would suspect the network. Hardware failure or corrupt driver are likely possibilities. Do the normal network troubleshooting to determine the cause (as you're running server software I'd guess that you are familiar with troubleshooting procedures).

Actually I'm not a sever tech. I know a lot about computers but don't delve into servers. This is my works server. problem started when we couldn't print to a shared printer. I can see the server shares in network places from a Win 7 computer, not from Win 10, but when I go to run and put in path it comes up. When I attempt to browse network from the server or do a run to access a share I get "Workgroup is not accessible. You may not have permission to use this network resource. Contact administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The specified sever cannot perform the requested operation." Funny thing is I'm logged into the server as Administrator.

If the server is at all important to your business then I would advise that you employ a consultant who knows about server hardware and operating systems to investigate the problem. You might also get him to review and advise your company on computer security; it is not a good idea for an untrained person to be in possession of the Administrator password for the server.

You know how many accounts I go into that untrained people have the permissions to their server? All of them. And I can tell you from my many interactions with server administrators, they are either lazy or ill equipped to handle anything more complicated than setting up active directory and handling setting up and deleting users. I've already exhausted the pool of "trained" IT administrators that I know and none of them had a clue either. If you don't have real suggestions then I don't need a response. Thanks

You speak as a self-confessed non-server tech. I speak after many years experience managing the Windows servers, as well as others, for a large multinational corporation. The fact that you are unfamiliar with well-run IT departments and their practices doesn't bode well for your chances of success here.

I'm afraid what you say is an insult to the many thousands of IT professionals who manage networks world-wide; a particularly stupid insult when you are asking for help from such knowledgeable professionals in this forum (and there are a number here).

If you don't even know how to contact a professional consultant who is experienced in Windows networks, or have the initiative to find this out, then there is little further advice that can be given to help you. I sincerely hope that this server is not critical to the success of your business; if it is then I fear that your company may not be trading in six months time.

I've already told you how to solve your problem. Follow the usual procedures for troubleshooting loss of network connectivity. If you are not competent to do this hire someone who is.
