Specs: Windows 2003
Hi,
I work in a primary school with windows server std 2003 and workstations. my colleague tried to upg ther server to 2003 r2, but kept getting error "you need to upgrade the active directory schema".
Now i cannot access the gpo console, wsus services, my sophos antivirus console.
I have setup a new pc and installed server 2003 r2 fresh install.
How do i import/migrate the old DC settings, dns, dhcp settings, active directory, gpo, shared drives to the new pc with server 2003 r2?
kind regards
Sij

If you are going to work in IT you need to learn the basics.

Basic: how to protect yourself and those you support on the internet
Basic: how to research a project

You did not do your homework before doing the upgrade project.

You don't add a newer server OS as a DC to a older server OS without upgrading Active Directory. If you had google the error you would have been informed about this. You would have learned you need to run ADPREP to prepare the forest/domain for the R2 version of server.

You should also be aware that you would ADD the r2 server to the forest and NOT take the other server down. Microsoft recommends 2 DCs in the forest for AD failover.

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.
