O/S reinstallation

Hewlett-packard / Dx 2480

Specs: Windows Server 2003 R2, Intel core 2 duo/1GB
The windows server 2003 running on my
machine seems to have been improperly
installed. I wish to remove it and reinstall. The
question here is how would I get it activated?
Can someone tell me how to get an activation
for a second time if the product was once
activated and in use.

I am not trying to install it on a different
machine. I would be reinstalling the O/S after
removing the older installation of the same OS.
So I will be using the same product key.

It won't matter either way, Microsoft activation is highly tied to your hardware (motherboard) ...so it won't work on a different system. You need to backup the wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files in the system32 folder to a flash drive. Then after install copy then back to the folder. I've done it many times...now days its much simpler to make an image of the driive with Acronis image software or a free one.
