Solved No floppy drive on server to install sata driver

January 28, 2012 at 16:55:07
Specs: Windows XP
I need advise to install Windows Server 2003 Enterprise 64bit on the INTEL SERVER SR2500ALBRP with 3WARE SATA CONTROLER.
The installation from the CD stops and ask to insert the FLOPPY DISK with the Driver because the HDDs are not detected ( Bios set in RAID 1 )

The Intel Server has no Floppy Drive and no connector on the Intel Motherboard S5000PAL.
I use an USB DVD Writer for the CD's to install.

Can you please advise and help me.

Best regards

Most severs come with an install CD that solves this sort of problem, but if your's doesn't you have two alternatives.

1. Buy a USB floppy drive (but first read this KB article: ).

2. Make your own install CD, slipstreaming the drivers on to it. Google "nlite" for more details.

Option 1 is easiest (and it's always useful to have a floppy drive), 2 is the cheapest.

TBH, I've never used the slipstreaming method myself as my servers always came with install CDs. But from all accounts it is not a difficult procedure. If you do have problems with it there are plenty of people here who can advise you.

Good luck.
