Microsoft Windows server 2003 r2 standar...

Specs: Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 2
Server has intermittent problem. Once or twice per week the software stops all print jobs so we know the server has problems. When the server is instructed to reboot - the print jobs start while the server is shutting down.

The problem is not only related to printing - whatever causes the problem basically shuts down all networking from this server to our network. No Internet - no telnet to this server, etc. All networking from this server to our network is shutdown.

When the server is rebooted - all works well for days, week or two but will stop working at some point. All Windows updates applied.

Not sure if this is a licensing problem but no error messages appear. Currently software has original 5-person license. Any advice on what to check or how to proceed would be appreciated.

Have you reviewed the event viewer logs?

How many users are on at a time?

How much ram does your server have?

The server has 4gb of RAM. Not sure how many users logged on at any one time - but never had user refused or error message.

We have reviewed the event logs - but no message that has helped us diagnose the current problem.

Is there a log or way to determine how many are logged on to this server? I have additional (5) CAL's but not sure how to install or if this is the problem.

Go to license manager off the administration menu. This is where you add licenses.

Does this server have two nics cards and are you routing internet thru this server?

What kind of switch, managed or unmanaged, is the server connected to?
