Need to access server files remotely

August 19, 2011 at 10:01:47
Specs: Windows 7
I have a work server which hosts data files for our EQ software. Each user in the office has the software configured to look at the server for the database.

Problem: We have a satellite office 10 miles down the road who also need the system. At the moment we are using logmein to access a local machine from the remote location. It is however, very slow even with resolution and speed set to lowest.

Question: Can we securely create a mapped drive on the remote machine so we can configure EQ to access the same server data as the local users?

appologies if I am not using correct terms but I am newbie to this.

Thanks in advance..

Does the work office have it's own domain? How are the server at work connected to the internet and how is the remote office connected?

If you don't have enough bandwidth for logmein to work effectively you don't have enough bandwidth for other configurations.

To map a drive you would need a site to site vpn. Which one remote pc would not justifiy the cost of.
