My server 2003 does not start NTLDR missing

February 24, 2011 at 10:17:33
Specs: server 2003
I have looked on MS support site for answers to this. They say to boot from the original CD and do a system repair just like you would in XP. I do not get the option to repair, it does not see the original install i guess. It is now running in safe mode. Can I manually take the NTLDR from the original CD and install it in the right directory? How do I fix this?

Copy the files to a Flash drive or a directory on the C: drive. Then boot from the System CD into recovery console and copy the files into the right directory.

Personally I would just recover from one of my system backups. You also, may want to run a scan disk on your hard drive because there may have been a reason you lost those file and you want to make sure your server is healthy and that the problem will not happen again. Also, do a system state backup to some sort of external media (tape, sans drive, nas drive, or even another server) so that you can simply do a restore if it happens again.
