Multiple PTR records for the same IP address in DNS

Specs: Windows 2003
Windows 2003 Server. DNS and DHCP
I regularly see several PTR records in the Reverse Lookup Zone for the same ip addresses.
(E.g. looking at it now - I have 5 devices all on

Interestingy - it aways seems to be android and blackberry devices which seem to hang about.

DHCP is configured as:
8 day lease,
Enable DNS dynamic updates... [checked]
Always dynamically update DNS A and PTR records [checked]
Discard A and PTR records when lease is deleted [checked]
Dynamically update DNS A and PTR ... Windows NT 4.0 [checked]

DNS is configures as:
scavanging set to 7 days and 7 days.

This is not disrupting the network - but I'm curious as to why it's happening.
(actually - I do have some software that relies on a reverse lookup - so getting the correct machine name would be helpful!)

set scavanging to far less days would be my suggestion.
