Moving/Migrating after Motherboard crash

July 1, 2010 at 04:19:12
Specs: Windows XP
Unfortunately, the motherboard on our Windows 2003 server crashed earlier this week, and as such I now need to work out how to migrate everything onto a new server. The harddrive works fine, but because of the motherboard change, it won't let me boot into Windows - I get a blue screen of death that I don't have time to read!

Is there an easy way of just getting windows server 2003 to realise I've had to move hardware or am I best doing a fresh install onto a new system completely, then somehow using the old harddrive and migrating it across?

Any help gratefully received!!!!

You would do a repair install of 2003 with everything in the new system. This way you load the correct drivers for the system to boot/work.

Finally found the Server 2003 disc, and got as far as pressing R to do a repair, but the repair console won't recognise the harddrive - any thoughts?
