Keeps Logging OFF

January 13, 2010 at 11:49:17
Specs: Windows XP
When i log on, it goes into the wallpaper but then it says " saving your settings" and it logs me off. I tried rebooting in Safe Mode but the same thing happens. Ive read how many suggest using the CD but i dont currently have any of my laptops CD.

Is it a virus issue or hardware malfunction?

What can i possibly do to fix this problem without having to go to a technician?

are you logging in under a user profile or an admin profile?

Point here is to logon under a different profile.

This is a software not hardware issue.

a repair install of xp is the only way I know that you can fix what you describe.

You should start with getting into recovery console [you need your xp cd or anyones xp cd] and run chkdsk /p to check for disk errors. If found and corrected you maybe able to get in again.

When was the last time you defragged this laptop drive?
