Has anyone checked the battery voltage with a meter? Was the unit unplugged when the battery was changed? Were all external cables disconnected? Somebody missed something on the procedure list.

It is possible that the CMOS chip was fried by static electricity. You will not feel the small amount necessary to kill a computer. So many change those batteries without a ground strap and get lucky. Without CMOS settings, it's not going to boot.

Finally, what does the manual say about changing the battery?
