what account are you running backup under?
what exactly are you backing up?
if you do a test manual backup of just a couple of files are you successful?

Admin, backing up documents and exchange information on C and E drive and others that im not to sure of. This is on a customers server and i would have to delete the current job then create a new which i dont really want to do.

Nothing wrong with the backup job.

"The device reported an error on a request to write data to media"

Tape is not in the media set or there was a problem with the tape/backup drive.

"Error: C: is not a valid drive, or you do not have access."

It's this error that made me ask what account. I think you need to double check that admin is running the job. Does not appear to be the case. Or the drive is corrupt which a chkdsk saying it needs /f would verify.

daniel.marriott you may wish to review the rules of these forums. I have removed your duplicate post.

"Unable to detect tape drive or tape media."

This error is self explainatory. Appears you have a hardware issue with the tape or the tape unit. Usual first step is to get a brand new tape, add it to the media set and then see if you can do a backup of a single file.

Might want to check that the tape device name is still 4mm DDS. Your script is looking for that device name.

Did you ever run chkdsk on the c: drive?
