exchanger server 2003 authentication

Hello all,
We have connected our outlook using POP3 directly to our mail server hosted outside. We do have exchanger server in our office, how configure exchange 2003 to send and receive mail from mail service provider server and how to configure my server require authentication in my exchanger 2003

exchange has not meant to be a mail client but it's a mail server so you can't receive emails from external mail server through exchange.
you can use daemon mail server though.
and about the authentication, I don't understand exactly what you want.

Thanks for your reply.
my requirement now my outlook directly connected with remote mail server directly.
What i want to do is instead of connected directly to mail server i want to connect through my exchange server 2003. Now in my outlook when i connect directly to server i have to select my server require authentication option how can I enable same option in exchange server.
still if my answer is not claer let me know i ll try explain other way
