Delay Exchange Server Startup

Specs: Windows XP, Q6600/4.00 GB PC8500
There was a recent power outage (the electricity went off) which shut down all my servers, one being the domain controller and the other being the exchange server. Now since the power came back, both servers automatically turn on, however, the exchange server starts up together with the domain controller, as a result, the exchange server does not see the domain controller and gives a message "At least one event failed to load on startup".

So, my question is how to get this exchange server to delay before the domain controller fully starts up. Does anyone know how to do this?

To answer my own question, I edited the boot.ini file and changed the number to 90 seconds and added an extra startup line to make the boot menu appear for 90 seconds before actually booting into Windows.

However, Is this the correct way of doing it?

As long as it works, why not? I think it was a very creative way of solving your own problem, kudos to you.
