I have this internal domain, Win 2003 Domain controller, and exchange 03 server (running on a 03 server), xp clients. This is set up at home for learning purposes!!
Right now users can get to OWA by http://fatass/exchange/greg/inbox
I want to configure the exchange 03 server to use SSL for OWA access, do i have to buy a certificate to do this, or is it just a simple configuration to do on my exchange server?

I have another website running on this exchange 03 server. Do i have to configure this certificate through the 'default web site' properties? and not through my new web site?
does the 'default web site' have to always be running for OWA to work?

This is a great website (and article) that explains everything you need to know:

And concerning the certificates, you can either buy one or get one for free, or make one yourself, see more here:

is IIS required for exchange server 2003?

is it just for use because of OWA?

if i do not want users to use OWA can i not install IIS?

This SSL is for internal use only.
