change default PPTP port on server and client

February 14, 2011 at 13:06:37
Specs: Windows 2003
How can I change default PPTP port on RRAS in windows 2003 ?
I want to change port from 1723 to any other port which is open ! because my ISP blocked port 1723 !

And should I make any changes on client side ?

Note I don't want to use openvpn or iPig .

thanks

That would be a very unusual port for a isp to block. I suspect you are confusing the port being blocked by the isp and being closed by your router.

Do you understand you need for forward port 1723 to your server?

FYI
PPTP

•To allow PPTP tunnel maintenance traffic, open TCP 1723.
•To allow PPTP tunneled data to pass through router, open Protocol ID 47.
L2TP over IPSec

•To allow Internet Key Exchange (IKE), open UDP 500.
•To allow IPSec Network Address Translation (NAT-T) open UDP 5500.
•To allow L2TP traffic, open UDP 1701.

Dear friend , thanks for replying . I know about port forwarding and these things .

I am leaving in country which government's policy is closing all possible ways to get to free internet world .

they try to block even VPN (L2TP , PPTP) access in past days . so I am looking for solution to solve this problem .

do you have any idea about this ?

Sorry. I don't know of any way to change the listening port and I didn't see anything on the web when I searched.
