can you install win server 2003 on laptop??

Specs: Windows 7, 32 bit laptop
Hi, just bought HP pavalion laptop, & now I would like to install Win Server 2003 or 2008 R2? Is this possible? Thanks.

It all depends on driver availability, and in the case of a laptop that is by no means a sure thing. Since Server 2003 is older than your notebook you can not expect drivers to be on the CD. Since Server 2008 is rarely installed on laptops you have a similar problem.

Check with the manufacturer of the laptop to see if drivers are available. You are unlikely to find them elsewhere.

If you're lucky you might be able to use XP drivers for 2003, but it's not always so. You might have to resort to second classed home-brewed drivers you find by googling. You might have to skip a few hardwares as well.

The main problem as I see it would be performance though.

Why would you want to? Thats not a supported configuration. There are plenty of virtualisation options. Use VMware player it allows you to create VM's now.

Yes u can ...

I have hp 530 as well and i m using window server 2003 on it ..wireless , lan , vga , sound and display all drivers are working on it...

otherwise install virtual machine best way of practice ..:)
