Can anyone help me? NtFrs problems between dc

March 25, 2011 at 03:47:42
Specs: Windows Server 2003 R2 Std SP1 VM

I have just started a new job & been asked to have a look at 2 WinSrv 2003 R2 Std SP1 VM DC's

As far as I can tell the DNS is not updating and the NtFrs Replication stopped in 2009.

Where do I start?

He is asking about NTFS replication not File Replication.

You can test the replication by...

- Select "Active Directory Sites and Services" on one of the DCs.
- Drill down to one of your Servers NTDS Settings.
- Right window Right-Click on one of the NTDS objects.
- Select Replicate Now.

Also, can you send us any errors referring to replication in your System Logs? Might be some thing in your Active Directory that is messed up depending on what kind of error you get when doing the above test.

P.S. this is basic DC stuff. What kind of job where you hired for? It may be that you company is contracted out to a third party for Active Directory issues and this is out side the scope of your job. If so call them to get help.

The OP specifically asked about NtFrs replication, not Active Directory replication. Do you not think a link to "Troubleshooting File Replication Service" (NTFRS) is relevant?
