Access based enumeration issue

July 18, 2011 at 22:28:51
Specs: Windows server 2003 r2
There are 3 shares on a file server named server1, share a, share b & share c with rights to person1, person2 & person 3 respectively
When a person tries to view the shares, e.g. Person 1 uses the cmd “net view \\server1” he should only be able to see share a & not able to see share b & share c

Hi,

We have 26 shares with rights to numerous persons, its a hectic job creating a new share with all the permisions...

I have reviewed ABE Documentation & also implemented on a test server, ABE hides the contents of the share & not the share on the root. ie it will not hide share A, Shrae b or share c, but if share a contains folder 1, folder2 with person 1 & person 2 access then it will hide folder1 from person 2.

26 shares? That seems excessive.

We have one share per volume.
Each folder under the share may contain subfolders
We assign groups to the top level folder.
Not a member of the group you don't see the folder or any subfolders.

user is assigned to groups upon creation based on job function
pretty simple really.
