i wanted to install my nvidia geforce 8500 video driver in windows 2000 but there are no compatible drivers for it. i tryed searching for nvidia forceware but there is nothing compatible.
please help?
Creating a driver for a modern video card is a major undertaking which only the manufacturer will do. If Nvidia doesn't list a driver it is highly likely that none exists. Windows 2000 currently has very small user base and writing a driver for it is not worth the effort. You could try an XP driver but I doubt it would work. If you must use Windows 2000 you will need to obtain a compatible video card.
XP & 2000 are very similar "under the hood" so the XP driver may work. But why don't you just ugrade to WinXP? You have more than enough RAM.
The installer package may fail but extracting the driver files and "updating driver" through Device Manager > Display will probably work. After all, XP is NT 5.1 and 2000 is NT 5.0.
