Unable to open floppy drive

September 9, 2011 at 12:46:28
Specs: Windows XP
All of a sudden I no longer am able to open my floppy disk as there is no drive in the control panel. I did go to the device manager and right clicked on update drives, however it still isn't responding. Any ideas how I can fix this problem. I need to access my floppy disc's. Thank you in advance.

My first guess would be that the IDE data cable and/or 4-pin floppy power connector cable has become unseated from a) the drive, or b) the motherboard.

Make sure all connectors from the floppy to the motherboard are snugly connected and try again.

If you look in Disk Management, can you see the drive?
