I have a Think Pad I purchased in 2001 that crashed almost immediately. It did not come with an installation disk. (Windows 2000 Pro). I purchased another computer and forgot about the TP until recently. How do I get a CD_ROM for Windows 2000 to bring it back to life. The on screen message says to reinstall Windows 2000 with CD-ROM.
There's still several "old-software" resellers on the market; a Google "shopping" search on Windows 2K Pro should get you started. You may still need drivers for various devices in the machine that Win2K doesn't provide.
Did you buy the computer NEW? I am not familiar with how IBM may have handled the ability to restore to factory specs back then. Possibly a hidden restore partition on the hard drive if disks weren't provided?
