You need to provide more detail than you have. What versions of Windows are you trying to install and what hardware do you have?

Explain what you are doing and what is happening.

Win98 & Win2000 both have some hardware restrictions.

Are you using all the original hardware from when the computer came with ME on it? IDE hard drive for instance. Did you use NTFS or FAT32 for the file system?

The 5000 series was produced for some time. If you can, you need to provide the exact model number, or the service tag off the case.

"the original disk was bad and i bought another IDE disk.I installed win 2000". Do you mean you replace the hard drive? If so, what hard drive did you install? I need to know the model number or at least the capacity (size) of the new hard drive.

If you are trying to perform an upgrade from Win95 to Win2000, I don't think that will work the systems are too different.

You need to start fresh. When booting to the Win2000 CD you need to choose the advanced install option. Then delete all partitions and create one partition. Then
