I guess, Windows 2000 is also outdated and did not support the hardware of your netbook.

What's about Windows XP on the Netbook.

I thought that the windows xp drivers would also work on windows 2000 because the kernal is very similar. Is this true?

No that's not true.
BTW. Windows XP supports more current hardware and it's supported by Microsoft further.
The support for Windows 2000 has been stopped by Microsoft a few years ago and so the new hardware is not supported by Windows 2000.

Upgrade an already installed OS isn't the best choice.
Mostly not all is function properly.
Also keep in mind, that some folders are in other locations on the different windows version.
E.g. the users home directory, shared programs.
On win2000 the windows folder is named WinNT, on WinXP it's named windows.
Upgrading means always a lot of useless trash.

ok, but your not helping me. Your only telling me to do something without telling me "how". How do I install Windows 2000, OR XP on my USB Flash Drive, without messing up my boot manager in my internal hard drive.

Your problem is that you may not have the correct service pack and/or the correct drivers incorporated into the Win2000 install.

Use nLite OS to slipstream SP4 and the needed drivers for the computer you are booting from.
