Hi Engineers..

I am using Windows 2000 prof (sp4) and Installed IE6 and it was working fine all the way...
Recently I got some AUTO UPDATES of OS and It downloaded auto and Installed fine. after installations I got a popup that RESTART the sys to take affect. I did the same...
after restarting, I open IE and typed WWW.GOOGLE.COM, after hitting ENTER it automatically closes.. I tried again and got same. even I tryeid with different website. same prob..
I think its the problem of IE.
I searched in google for fixing issue. there I got a answer that reinstalling IE I will get resolve. I even did same. No use...

Can any one tell me why its happening and what to do to fix..

Thanks in advanve....

Try a different browser like Firefox or Opera, see if that solves the problem.
Have you tried restarting the pc ?

it could be a buggy update from microsoft which is incompatible.

If everything else fails rollback to the last known working configuration by pressing F5 during startup.

Yes. I am able to use Firefox and opera without problem,
and whenever I open the IE6 and OE6 its closing suddenly, and OE 6 giving this error below.

"msimn.exe has generated an error and will be closed by windows,
you will need to restart the programm.

an error log is being created."

when I click on OK, the OE closes,

Why its happening and how to fix this prob..

Thanks in advance..

Internet Explorer 6 is very buggy, especially SP1. Windows 2000 never received the IE 6 SP2 that XP did.

If you simply go to and start typing in the search box, the browser will usually crash with MSHTML.DLL or NTDLL.DLL error.
