This is the Win2000 forum but you listed XP as your OS. What exactly are you trying to change & why do you want to do it from DOS?

Hello, I want to replace files named edward to joyce in DOS because I can't figure out how to do it in Windows XP. Also, edward (my husband) died last year and he listed himself as the administrator. I cannot get rid of some programs because of this administrator name. He loved the washington skins and I hate them (I like Dallas, the right team). Thank you.

Log in a the default administrator in safe mode. If you are prompted for a password try just hitting enter at that time. As the default administrator you will have all the needed privileges to remove your late husbands entire profile.
