cant open downloads

Specs: Windows 2000 Professional
I have windows 2000 professional on a virtual machine, and I downloaded flash player 9, and i cant open it. This happens to every download i get. I tried to select explorer to open it but nothing happened. I have XP as the host, and i can open downloads on it. This might be a stupid question. Please help!!

I don't know why you can't run files downloaded in Win2000. I am responding to ask what also be a stupid question. Why are you running Win2000 in a virtual machine under WinXP? Both are pretty much the same OS. Anything that runs in Win2000 should also run in WinXP.

Are you aware there is overhead when running Win2000 virtually? This degrades performance.

As far a downloading Flash player goes you should just allow the site to determine the needed version of Flash player. When you get a message that Flash player is required or an upgrade is required just follow the links and allow the correct version to be downloaded.

um well im kind of weird and i like older OSes but really it is because sometimes my XP is really slow and i go to the virtual machine and it is faster

That makes absolutely no sense at all. Running another OS in virtual mode should make things slower.

What you need to do is cleanup your WinXP installation. You may have malware or just too many items running.
