Specs: Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Hello Everyone,

We are trying to add a new computer on a Windows 2000 domain but we are getting the below error whenever we do so.

Note: This information is intended for a network administrator. If you are not your network's administrator, notify the administrator that you received this information, which has been recorded in the file C:\WINDOWS\debug\dcdiag.txt.

DNS was successfully queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain DOMAIN.COM

The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.DOMAIN.COM

The following domain controllers were identified by the query:

Common causes of this error include:

- Host (A) records that map the name of the domain controller to its IP addresses are missing or contain incorrect addresses.

- Domain controllers registered in DNS are not connected to the network or are not running.

For information about correcting this problem, click Help.

Any ideas or suggestions how to fix this?

Thanks in advanced,

Have you checked that your DNS servers have the correct records? Presumably they are Windows DNS servers.

Hi ijack,

The DC in question is also the DNS server that we have. I checked the DNS records and the server has its Host (A) record and PTR record as well. Is there any other record we should check and verify?

Thank You,
