Your Windows Licence will expire soon?(windows is activated)

October 18, 2016 at 12:10:45
Specs: Windows 10, i7, 8gb ram
So I have a very strange issue at hand. I am using Windows 10 and did the free upgrade from Windows 7 a while ago. A week or so ago and up until today I have been getting pop ups that say, "Your Windows License Will Expire Soon. You need to activate Windows in Settings."
Fine. So I go into the settings and look for an activation button however I see that it sais
Activation: Windows is activated using your organizations activation service. There is nothing else to click so I have no idea what the issue it. Can someone point me in the right direction because if the settings are showing that Windows is activated why do I keep getting these pop ups and what happens if I do not respond to them soon?

This is one of the few fixes I've seen that seems to have worked:

However, I've not tried it personally and can't vouch for it.

How while AGO Are you talking about? The free Windows 10 upgrade expired July 29 2016 which is more than a while ago. In addition, the error message generated from KMS licensing. Is your Windows 10 a KMS?

To expand on XpUser's path, is this a company laptop, or was it at one time? Windows is saying it was activated through a company's server, and the laptop can either no longer access that server, or the server is not authorized to activate Windows 10.

Question 1: any idea why this is happening now?
Answer 1: It takes time for Microsoft to detect your non-genuine license.

Question 2: and what I can do to fix it?
Answer 2: Going from Windows 10 Enterprise (KVM) down to Windows 10 Pro is not possible without reinstall. You will also need to purchase Pro License. It costs $199.99 at Microsoft Store. You can get a cheaper one from other sites such as Amazon, etc using google.

Had the same message appear on my tower today, but | knew it was an upgrade from a genuine Manufacturers pre-installed OEM version of 8.1 but didn't have a copy of the product key for it so I used a small program called ShowKey Plus to show me both the previous 8.1 key and the new Win 10 key so then I just used the 8.1 key to reactivate Win 10 which it did with no problems. So does anyone know why I would have seen the
"Your Windows License Will Expire Soon. You need to activate Windows in Settings." popup?

This post has not been looked at since October 2016. To give yourself a fighting chance please raise a new post of your own explaining what is happening. By all means provide a link to this one.

A new post will go to the top of the pile - this one will only be seen by anyone who has it marked. No two problems are ever quite the same.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
