Solved You do not have permissi to access a Macrium backup folder

July 26, 2019 at 23:40:57
Specs: Windows 10, 8gig
I have installed a new copy of Windows 10 having rendered the previous install useless/

I have opened an older Macrium located my Named folder and have attempted to open it with the intention of copying all my videos to the new install however MS will not allow me to open my own folder.

I tried using the instructions listed on the net but they seem to belong to an older Win 10 version. End result is I'm hopelessly lost and I run the risk of doing more damage.

Can anyone provide a Grade School version of how to do it?

All,help will be gratefully acknowledged.

Regards

Hi Ewen, I have never used Macrium, so I am researching using Google.
Are you using the Macrium Restore wizard?

Right click on your Named folder & C drive, select Properties.
Upload screenshots of both to a site of your choosing, please.

✔ Best Answer
Tip for the future. Important stuff such as Pictures and Videos are best backed up straight onto your chosen device as files rather than using software. Software adds another element that can fail and screw things up, as has happened in this instance.

Thank you Derek, a very handy tip which I shalt use in future. In the meantime i get the same message in a backup I made with Naomei and Macrium. Trying to allocate permission through MS is like navigating a minefield that''s why I wanted grade school instructions. But thank you for your advice.

Hello John, viewing the contents of a backup is no problem but viewing the contents of a folder within the backup gives me the message " You do not have permission etc.", what I need is a grade school method of allocating permission to open a specific folder.

Assuming it is Macrium Reflect, I think you will need to install the program again first then this might do it:
