Solved Windows update makes shortcuts in taskbar disappear

Windows update makes the shortcuts in my taskbar disappear. Is that normal? I use PCloud as my cloud storage, but after the last Windows update it has disappeared. This is not the first time that after an update things disappear. Also I disabled Edge browser, but it is re-installed at the update. Is there a way to prevent all these things happening, other than disabling updates?

I'm no expert, but as far as being "normal", I can say that it happens to me also, both on my home PC and my corporate PC. My home PC is set for Automatic Updates and only gets MS updates, while my corporate PC has updates pushed down by our IT department. They not only download MS updates, they also download "corporate updates".

However, I would have to say that it's the MS updates that are altering the task bar because sometimes we lose shortcuts to corporate apps that we use every day. It would be really dumb for our IT department to remove shortcuts to our corporate apps, making it harder for us to use them. Alter the properties, maybe, but remove them completely and make thousands of employees set them up again? I think not.

That's why I think it's a "normal" thing that happens with MS updates. It would be nice if there was a fix. I might even share it with our IT department if there was. ;-)
