Solved Windows 10 won't load after update, how to save some files?

December 12, 2015 at 10:48:27
Specs: Windows 10
On 12/8, I updated Windows 10 on my laptop (a Dell Latitude E6510) and after an hour of the update running, the laptop restarted, "Attempting repairs" came up, and from then on none of the options to get back into Windows worked. Couldn't restore (it claimed I had no previous restore point) couldn't get into Safe Mode (what Win10 is calling Safe Mode, anyway), and when I removed the SATA drive to connect it to my desktop computer as an external to make sure I had all my personal files, Windows read the drive as G: Reserved Space and H: Empty. When I tried to open the "empty" H: drive, it said it needed to be formatted. I'm not falling for that.

Basically I need to recover five files out of the Desktop folder. I know they have to be there, I'm just about ten years out of the loop with data recovery. :)

Thanks! Lazesoft found "file systems" on the damaged partition, it's still running but so far so good!
