Solved Windows 10 Spell Check not working

Hewlett-packard / Pavilon notebook
November 17, 2015 at 05:52:35
Specs: W10-1511, 2.2GHz/6GB
My spell checker is turned on and highlights misspelled words but
does nothing to correct them. I previously used Speckie on Vista
but it is not compatible with W10.

Is there a fix?

ieSpell was last updated in 2010 (5 years ago) As long as it does what you expect, use it. I am sure you understand it will not work on Word and Notepad, only IE.

Just to be clear, are you talking about spell checking in Windows 10 or spell checking in Microsoft Office 2010?

If you're talking about Windows 10, did the spell check at one point work? Has it not worked from the start?

In W10. It hasn't worked since I purchased the laptop 3 weeks ago.

Evidently it is a widespread problem.

Are you talking about the autocorrect misspelled words feature built into Windows 10

In what part or parts of Windows 10 is it not working? Internet Explorer?

I am puzzled it also doesn't work on any of the apps you mentioned on this PC - never noticed it before. Not sure if the recent Windows 10 November Upgrade changed it.

From what I have found it has been going on before the 1511 change. It did mess up the registry search.

Speaking of Registry the 1511 wiped out all ,my customized Registry Edits. Good thing there were not that many that I had to do all over again. To date No one else has reported this problem on the Net.

I finally downloaded ieSpell and it seems to do the job. Speckie was easier to use but
not compatible with W10.

I very seldom use word or notepad so I should be okay.

I did notice while I was on a forum this morning my words would auto correct.
I couldn't get it to duplicate that in other places so it must have been the site doing it.
