I have Win 8.1 Home in my laptop with AMD A8 4500M 1.9 GHz processor. After downloading Win 10, it did not install with error code 80070003.I ran the WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.daigcab when I got the message, "some registration is missing or corrupt".I downloaded MediacreationToolx64.exe & ran it & got the message "Something happened". This happened three times I tried to download Win 10. Pl. resolve the problem
I had the same error. However, the following solution worked for me:
This happened for one of friends and I tried this solution I found online, and it worked: 1. Browse to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
2. Delete all the files seen there (Don't worry, nothing will happen)
3. Search "cmd" in the Start Menu, right-click and "Run as Administrator"
4. Give the following command: wuauclt.exe /updatenowAfter you do this, you should open your Windows Update and hopefully be downloading Windows 10. I assume you already got the Windows 10 notification and reserved a copy.

PabloKarpo -Pl. let me know what finally worked for you for Win 10 Upgrade : through "windows Update" or "using a downloaded Win 10 ISO' file. I have corrupted my "Recovery" Tool of Win 8.1. The "Advanced Start Up" Screen has now only two buttons (Continue & Turn Off PC, two other buttons (Use another device for Start Up & Troubleshooting) are missing. I have run sfc /scannow and found a few files are missing/not repairable. I have tried Dism/Online/Cleanup-Image/RestoreHealth, but no success so far. I have never tweaked with my partitions in my Hard Drive, It still contains "Recovery" & "Restore" as Hidden Partitions. I'll try the "eightforums" blog you have mentioned. message edited by metallurgist
XpUser- I have gone through that thread. I don't find any reply marked there as "Answer". Downloading 3GB Upgrade again & again through "Windows Update" & "Installation-Failed" hurts. It eats up Metered Internet Data charges. In the Microsoft Forum, the replies by Microsoft Support Engineers are not at all helpful & reflect their callousness. If possible pl. suggest any solution to upgrade through Win 10 ISO.
..any solution to upgrade through Win 10 ISO. There no solution to use ISO file. The ISO is just a disk image that must be burned to a DVD disc or to USB stick in order to be made more meaningful. Burned to a USB stick is the preferred method - as long as your machine BIOS is capable to boot to USB on startup. Google for "Burn Windows ISO to USB" (without the quotes).
