After a Windows 10 update, I noticed that I now have a drive labelled ESP and it 450 Mb. What is the purpose of this drive; does it cause any harm and can it be removed?

Thank you.

This seems to be the most popular explanation:

"AKA EFI partition, apparently it was assigned a drive letter, you can remove the drive letter (set it with no drive letter) using Disk Management and it will become hidden in explorer again".

My comment:
Seems like an update glitch - it has been known to go away again.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

If you delete ESP (EFT System Partition) your computer will no longer boot. THIS article explains its purposes.

Thank you for your response. As you suggested, the ESP drive disappeared the next time I booted up.
