Why is my computer randomly shutting down without any warnin

May 9, 2018 at 21:53:58
Specs: Windows 10
I have an HP Laptop, about 6 month old. Windows 10 - Microsoft.....Computer randomly shuts down without any warning, then in about 3-4 seconds it turns itself back on. Control alt delete does nothing for this. I thought maybe it was updating, but that is not the case. I lose information when it does this. The computer is not hot, no fans running, it does this about every day.

"no fans running"
They should be.

"I have an HP Laptop"
Exact model please.

Dust is a very big cause of shutdowns & you appear to be aware of that, regardless, lets eliminate that as a first step.

As this laptop is only 6 months old keep in mind you have a warranty to use if there are problems with it.

With that in mind best not to go inside the housing as likely that will invalidate the warranty. Where, from whom, did you buy it?

But first follow the advice, checks as per Johnw to see what may ail the system.

Overheating due to dust build up is often the cause. However this might be a hardware issue so bear in mind you have a warranty. I would be inclined to run these two just to make sure there isn't some malware around causing problems . They often find what anti-virus programs miss. Run AdwCleaner first:

AdwCleaner:
https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcle...
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the program. Run the "Scan", followed by the "Clean & Repair".

MalwareBytes:
https://www.malwarebytes.org/
(use the "Free Download" button rather than the "Buy Now" button).
After the install go to "Settings > Protection". Under Scan Options move the "Scan for rootkits" slider over to On and Run the Threat Scan. Quarantine anything it finds.

If either of them find something please copy/paste the associated logs on here.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
