If I am logged on and there has been no activity for a while and a page is open on my computer why does it freeze up
Make and model of computer would be useful here. If a laptop... when did you last clean out the air vents?

Check in Power settings/options. Set the hard drive to never power down. Set time to sleep for say 20 minutes (if laptop, 10 minutes on battery and 20 minutes on AC power). When the machine sleeps the hard drive is powered down anyway. Hard drives powering down creates issues like freezes and wake from sleep issues and may be worse if SSD drive. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
ok sorry...it is a stand alone PC Windows 10.
My hard drives are already set to 20 mins then sleep. Have changed to 30 mins.
Even so I would have thought that it would fire up after I clicked on a key or moved the mouse???
"Even so I would have thought that it would fire up after I clicked on a key or moved the mouse???"
Correct, but not in all cases."My hard drives are already set to 20 mins then sleep"

I have found that suspending USB functions causes issues like you are having. Try adjusting the Advance Power Settings to Never for USB.
