Why did all my photo files turn to shortcuts?

Specs: Windows 10
My Lenovo laptop recently decided to update itself to windows 10.

I initially tough i lost all my pictures, but later found out they were located in C:/users/*myname*/pictures. I sighed with relief as they seemd to be intact and open as Intended.

Like a month later i was working on resume online and was asked to include a picture of myself. So i went to the afromentoined directory only to find all of my files were turned into shortcuts.

All of the shortcuts linked me to F:\*foldername* which i found preculiar given my hdd is named C:

i googled arouond and found the attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.* fix, but it kept telling me access denied. I understand this only works for portable drives?

I really hope my pictures haven't just vanished anywhere, is there aything i can do to resolve this sitsuation?

I'm not familiar with Windows 10, but if you look at the properties of the photos, what do you see?

Also, are you located in the US? If so, it's not legal for an employer to ask for a photo until after a job offer has been made. :)
