Solved Why can't I install or uninstall anything since W10 upgrade

September 29, 2015 at 00:09:54
Specs: Windows 10 Home 64 Bit, Pentium Dual Core T4300 @ 2,1Ghz 2.1Ghz
Since upgrading to Windows 10 I can not install or uninstall anything on my laptop. I first noticed it when I tried removing Office 2007, as I now have a license of Office 365, but it kept freezing during uninstall. I overlooked it as a software error that I couldn't be bothered dealing with.
I then realised Plex Media Server wasn't functioning correctly, as I no longer seemed able to stream to my Panasonic smart TV. I noticed it required an upgrade on my laptop, so tried downloading the update. It downloaded fine, but during installation it kicked up an error.
I also tried the recent iTunes update - same problem, it downloaded fine, but during installation kicked up an error.
Then the same thing happened when trying to update AVG anti virus. Downloaded fine, then kicked up an error during installation. I think this time it said something about another installation being in progress, but I can assure you there was not after many restarts,
This has happened as soon as I upgraded to Windows 10, from Windows 7. Please help!

Start at Step 1 ( very important ) do all the steps & when you get to the final step ( Repairs ) check/tick all the boxes. Reboot when finished.
Right click on the exe & click on > Run as administrator.

John,
Thank you so much for your detailed response, and apologies about my tardy response to you.
I did all of the above and it didn't help. I then did a few internet searches and realised that this may be as simple as Windows 10 only allowing one install/uninstall at a time. It appears that there was a 'locked' un-installation happening in the background that had become stuck at a point relating to "Office click to run".It remained in this state even upon restart, but never actually notified me using a dialogue box.
I forced these processes to end using task manager, and then I was able to uninstall (one by one) iTunes, AVG & Plex. I was then able to uninstall Office 2007, and also Office 2007 Student & Home (not sure why I had both of these installed), again one by one.
So thank you for your advice, and although it probably didn't solve the problem, it did inspire me to go and fix the problem, and I have likely ended up with a cleaner machine after running the 'tweaking' application, which is a good thing.
Thanks again.

"Should you always disable anti virus software before running Windows Repair?"
With Tweaking.com - Windows Repair, it is not mandatory.
