Specs: Windows 10
When I try to insert a picture from a file on my computer into a Word doc. all I get is a blank resizing box. This is very frustrating. Older versions worked fine.

What's the size(s) of the pics you're trying to insert?

They are relatively small 3" x 3". I have tried all of the work arounds that people have mentioned, check the options and make sure Draw is checked and Placeholder is unchecked. Nothing seems to work.

There is probably an Office repair in "Control Panel > Programs & Features". Worth a try if this happens on all pictures.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

What happens if you try to print the doc? Does it show in the printed document?

It could be that it is actually in there but could be related to a graphics display issue.

"They are relatively small 3" x 3""

I'm not sure what that means? I was asking about the size in KB (or MB) & pixel resolution. For example, a pic from a 12MP camera has a resolution of 4290 x 2800. You may need to resize your pics before inserting them. Try Image Resizer for Windows.

That was a great idea. But it didn't work. Still getting a resize box with no image in it.

Okay, I found a work around that seems to work. If I open the image in Paint, then hit Paste, it puts the image where I want it. So frustrating, Insert use to work so well. Thank you for all of your suggestions.

Another possibility, without using Paint:

Go to the jpg file itself and Copy it (or Control C). Then open Word, right click the page and Paste it (Control V). It should then arrive on the page. It does for me.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
