Did you set one in the first place - for your user-name/account?

Have you tried simply leaving it blank?

Charging shouldn't affect passwords.

If you had already set one it is probably case sensitive.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

And one obvious thing to check - that the caps lock isn't on

Try this (after checking the caps lock): Press and hold the power button down until it shuts down. After 30 seconds or so press it again to power it up and try your password again at boot up. If this works, check your power settings and make sure that your hard drive is set to NEVER power down. When the machine is in sleep the drive is powered down anyway but if it tries to go into sleep or hibernation when the hard drive is powered down, it can lock up on many machines. Also note that it is better to put a laptop into sleep manually or by closing the lid rather than letting it fall into sleep after it has timed out which may actually be longer when the machine is plugged in.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
