Solved Unknown USB device (link in compliance mode) error message

Specs: Windows 10
Receiving this error on a Windows 10 machine. I've uninstalled/installed from the device manager. Disabled/Enabled from device manager. Windows says drivers are up to date. Same message from multiple thumb drives. It's only doing it on the front USB port. Not the ones in the back of the computer. Stumped.

Post #1 contain the perfect solution for you. Taking cues from another thread found on the internet, below is how BulldogXX solved the problem with information from TechNet article. Specifically:

"If [updating the driver does] not resolve the problems with the device, and if the device is an external drive, such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive, use the taskbar icon to safely eject the device, then unplug the device from the computer."

Once I did this, Device Manager no longer reported a problem. I then re-connected my portable hard drive and Device Manager still did not report a problem. After restarting my PC, Device Manager still did not report a problem. Thus, my problem is solved.
