turning off Windows Security in Background Apps

Specs: Windows 10, i3 / 16gb

In Privacy, Background Apps, if you turn all off with the switch it turns off Windows Security as well. Does it truly turn it off if you leave it this way or does this not effect Security/Defender? I don't want to lose Windows Security protection in the background but I want all apps off without it being changed easily or one by one. Thank you

That's something I never thought of! I imagine that if Windows
Defender stays off, it will very soon complain, as it does when it
is turned off separately. The next time Windows boots, at least.

True. with it turned off, I still have had the shield on my taskbar with the green arrow saying it’s alright. I just find it confusing and wish they didn’t add Security to that app list. The strange part is that the shield never disappeared from the task bar immediately after turning it off so re booting didn’t really look like it changed anything
