Solved tiny little sync symbol on all desktop icons

Dell Inspiron black 15r notebook
May 5, 2017 at 08:37:02
Specs: Windows 10
we are a really small shop - only 4 computer users
we are on windows 10 and office 365 with sharepoint and onedrive with MS Surface

recently, one of the users desktop icons all appear with a tiny little sync symbol (or what appears to be a sync symbol) at the bottom right corner of each desktop icon

the computer does seem to have slowed down as well, as it seems to be using resources to sync

the user is not sure what they did or changed and this has been happening for a few days

any suggestions to track where it's syncing to and how to revert the icons back to normal would be great

This sounds a little as though someone has inadvertently "sync'd" (synchronised) your files etc. with another storage location; typically a cloud storage system at least?

This link may prove helpful:

I'm not running win-10 (fortunately for me - considering the innumerable problems it appears to present to many) so can't advise you from personal experience... But the link does take you to the M$ how to sync and "unsync" as it were...
