Stripped or Windows 10 lite?

Hello everyone,,
I have an InFocus Kangaroo that I've been using for a basic media player originally running Kodi, but now just Prime and Netflix. It came with Windows 10 home installed, so I have a licence. This machine is basically a cell phone with no screen. It's 32g SSHD, 2g ram & Intel Atom quad core.

My issue is that, with numerous updates to W10 since I bought it almost 4 years ago, it is now gotten to the point where it can't update due to lack of disc space. It won't let me use an external drive via USB 3.0 or microSD. It just does not work and so gets stuck in a loop. It is also overloaded with extra processes & programs like Cortana I can't turn off & that I have no use for. All of the above just make the machine unnecessarily slow.

I am contemplating just ditching Win possibly and go to either Android, Chrome or Ubuntu(not even certain that I can do any of these), but I really like the ease of use and familiarity that Win has, particularly for my family.

So is there a lite or stripped version that I can re-install?

Is there a way to reinstall the version I have with less "baggage"?

Should I just forget it and try another OS, if even possible.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Also in Add-Remove Programs there is a check box that allows you to add or remove optional Windows features. Go through the installed features and see if there are some you can uninstall this way. It may not take up a lot less room but some and should lighten the load.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

You can't turn off Cortana? I have it turned off, though
there are traces of it left behind.
