Do a Restart of the computer (rather than a shut down and start) as this can clear up the odd glitch on Windows 10.

Otherwise it might be the hardware. I would be inclined to return it under warranty because anything else you do could make it void.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Just to clarify, some laptops have a manual volume control as well as the software one in the tray on the bottom right (speaker symbol). Make sure both are well above the minimum levels and not muted. If yours has both types of controls then the one you are not using should be full or at least 3/4 full and the other one is the one you do use regularly. Some on the other hand use keyboard keys (volume up, volume down, and mute, possibly with a function key to access) to effect the built in software volume so this would not pertain if that is what you have.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

My experience several years ago with Windows 7 is that a lot of
audio settings are hidden and/or hard to understand what they do.
Mostly to do with selecting which input and which output to use.
I think the problem could still be with a setting -- maybe one you
don't think is relevant, or don't even know exists.
