Hi all,

Due to a misunderstanding one of my local userprofile directories was deleted.

I have tried diskdigger.exe, but 90% or more of the files recovered where corrupted or missing.
It also couldn't find all of the files.

Do any of you know a reliable tool to recover lost files form a windows machine?
I'm willing to pay around 10$ for a tool like that. (for a lifetime license)

Turns out diskdigger.exe was the best tool soo far, colleges of mine tried to recover some more data, but to no aveil.

Only lost 1 week worth of projects tho, so it could have been worse.

Thanks for all the suggestions you guys have given :)

To answer your question, no, not yet.

I had been thinking about that during my train ride back home, so I already asked a college of mine to try that, as I will be out of office till the 20th of august.

Anyways, Thanks for the suggestion.

P.S. forgot to mention Shadow Copy Service is turned off & im not sure if the backup/restore service is turned on...

The BEST tool I have used for data recovery is PowerDataRecovery, I have on my machine various tools, all paid for, but this one consistently recovers more than all the other combined.

it costs more than $10 though..

I have used the free recovery tool Recuva a couple of times with decent results on common file types.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
