Shift and media keys keep trying to open mp3 players

January 6, 2017 at 06:47:56
Specs: Windows 64
What happens: Groove opened. Uninstalled. Windows Mecia Player opened. Uninstalled. VLC opened. Uninstalled. "you'll need a new app to open this mp3 file" message now pops up.

When: pressing shift, pressing shift + 1-0, backspace, t, y, ´, [, media keys such as volume controllers, play, pause, calculator, etc.

When it started: maybe two days ago, but I don't have a backup to go to.

What I have tried: uninstalling media programs, checking for stickykeys, cleaning the keyboard, uninstalling and reinstalling keyboard drives, updating keyboard drives, connecting keyboard to another usb port, using Sharpkeys, changing input language.

What I possibly could, but haven't tried: buying another keyboard, due to personal reasons.

Please help, this is exhausting... can you guys help me fix it?

Is it possible your Alt key is stuck? Perhaps you can just borrow another keyboard.

What are you using for Spyware/Malware/Virus detection?

Do you think it might be the Alt key? Whenever I press it for actual commands such as alt tab or alt f4 it seems to function normally. Is there a way - short of another keyboard - I could verify it?

And I'm using Windows Defender and the Windows firewall.

Try Alt-Tab and see what happens. Or ust keep taping the Alt key. Have you removed the key from the keyboard?

Alt tab works perfectly, if I keep tapping it nothing happens.
I have never removed any keys from this keyboard, do you think I should try it?
