So, I am trying to prep an image of Windows 10 for deployment. Part of the process is installing apps that are commonly used, obviously. We have a 6yr old application that is used heavily here and there is no newer version of the 32-bit software. Its DoD software and am not getting answers. Question is, has anyone seen where you see the installshield startup..and then it just closes. No matter what I try to do including Compatibility Mode. Anyone seen this behavior? Its 32-bit software on a 64-bit OS. Thanks.
What's the name of the software you're trying to install? message edited by beachyhbt
Its known as 'ETM Lan'...its not software out for public consumption. I dont believe its the software, I believe its the Installshield version having an issue with Win10.
All 64bit versions should be able to run true 32bit programs BUT many 32bit programs use 16bit installers which cannot run on a 64bit Windows machine. Compatibility mode will not help you here. A 32bit Windows installation may help, Windows 7 possibly more than 10 and XP absolutely will do it but you will need an older machine to run it. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
A VM is an option also.
Yes, you can install a Virtual machine and install XP within the virtual machine and install your software within that. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
